The feel of Autumn is all around us now with dramatic evening skies over West Cork bristling with light and crackling with energy, that lovely crisp early morning air and falling leaves already with us.
This is the time of year when my creativity gets a kick start after the lull of summer, on inspirational morning beach walks, splashing along the shoreline in my wellies or braving the blustering sea breeze on cliff top rambles or out on the stunning Old Head of Kinsale; the wind in my hair and the air wild with swirling leaves, the sound of waves crashing on the rocks below and gulls surfing the sky above my head.
Changing colours and textures of Autumn in Ireland are a real inspiration for my jewellery designs, when each leaf joins a riot of colour; every broken shell or shard of sand polished glass, ravaged by the waves of the Wild Atlantic Way and washed up amongst the shoreline driftwood and tangle of seaweed a dazzle of constantly changing energy.
With my mind clear and morning rambles over I settle down back in my cosy studio, grab a steaming hot comforting cuppa and curl up with my sketch book, working on the images I have captured and translating them into ideas for my winter season pieces.
Then when my fingers and toes have come back to life it’s off to the work bench where bold pieces and vibrant colours are taking shape for the season, with a distinct focus on comfort, strength and longevity.
Ethically sourced gems and metals, lab grown stones and re-cycled pure gold and silver are in the store room for my latest creations, and new eco-friendly packaging and mailing boxes will shortly be carrying hand crafted pieces from my Irish studio overlooking Oysterhaven Bay around the World.
I am also offering a shopping experience in the Courtyard Loft Studio, Oysterhaven for the Autumn and up to Christmas on Thursday and Friday evenings and Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, where you and a couple of friends can meet me, enjoy a glass of bubbles or that hot cuppa and browse my work on display in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, or discuss a private design commission.
